Youth Faces Multiple Charges After Firearms Incident

A 17-year-old male is facing multiple criminal charges after a firearms-related investigation stemming from an incident at a Regina business late last week.

Police were called shortly before 4:40 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, to a business located in the 1100 block of Angus Street. Officers were responding to a report that a male suspect was in possession of a firearm and had threatened to shoot a customer. Police say the suspect left the business soon after and entered a nearby residence on the same block.

Due to concerns that the individual was armed, the Regina Police Service requested assistance from its Tactical Support Team (TST).

After several hours and repeated efforts to make contact with the occupants of the residence, TST officers entered the home approximately four hours later. The suspect was arrested without incident. A subsequent search uncovered a loaded, sawed-off rifle.

As a result of the investigation, the youth—who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act—has been charged with:

  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing possession was unauthorized
  • Two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
  • Uttering threats

The youth made his initial court appearance in Regina Provincial Youth Court on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
